Reister's Towne Festival

Enjoy a weekend of down-home family fun at this year's Reister's Towne Festival. See live entertainment from the Daryl Davis Band, Bob Plunkert, Razin Kane, the Mood Swings, the Kindersingers and many others. Catch rising country music star Rhett Akins ("That Ain't My Truck" and "I Brake for Brunettes") as he performs 5 p.m.-6:30 p.m. Sunday.

Also browse arts and crafts and food vendors from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Watch a parade of floats, marching bands, antique cars and fire engines move from Franklin High School, 12000 Reisterstown Road, to Franklin Middle School, 10 Cockeys Mill Road, 9 a.m.-noon Saturday.

Festival is on the grounds of Franklin Elementary and Middle schools Saturday and Sunday. Free parking at the Hannah More Center, off Reisterstown Road, with shuttle to the middle school. Free. Call 410-356-0688.

A day of kids' entertainment awaits one and all Sunday at Ladew Topiary Gardens' Children's Day, with live music from the Kindersingers and Kissy & Tracy, balloon sculpting from Tom Lilly, juggling and magic with Robert Strong, puppetry, face-painting, a treasure hunt and snacks.

House and garden tours will be available. Tours are offered from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, through Oct. 31.

Children's Day runs from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday at Ladew Topiary Gardens, 3535 Jarrettsville Pike in Monkton. Admission is $6; $1 children; $5 seniors and students. House and garden tours available for $8; $2, children; $7, seniors and students. Call 410-557-9466.
