The Singapore Tourism Board has chosen Trahan, Burden & Charles of Baltimore from among five competing U.S. firms to handle its public relations in North America.

The mission of the Tourism Board is to raise Singapore's profile as a tourist destination and business center and as the hub for the Asia Pacific region.

Middleton & Gendron, a New York-based public relations firm specializing in travel and tourism, will work in conjunction with Trahan as it has on previous international projects.

A Trahan spokeswoman declined to reveal the value of the new account.

Trahan is an integrated marketing communications company offering advertising, public relations, direct marketing, design, film production and electronic marketing.

The company's clients include Ford dealers, Disney Regional Entertainment and the Maryland Department of Business and Economic Development.

Trahan's tourism experience includes handling marketing and public relations for Scotland, Bermuda and Curacao.
