TOWSON — The plan to convert Baltimore's Hippodrome Theater at 12 N. Eutaw St. to a performing arts center has passed a key hurdle, with selection of a construction manager and an architectural and engineering team last week by the Maryland Stadium Authority.

The stadium authority voted to hire Hardy Holzman Pfeiffer Associates of New York and Murphy & Dittenhafer of Baltimore, at a cost of $884,100, with Clark Construction Group of Bethesda to serve as construction manager.

The contracts require approval by the state Board of Public Works.
