Starting, managing business focus of one-day workshop

SCORE Chapter 390 will conduct a one-day workshop, "How to Start and Manage Your Own Business," at the Heritage Center in Annapolis from 8: 45 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 9. The fee is $35. Information and registration: 410-266-9553.

Chamber, retired executives offer advice on business

The Chamber of Commerce of Greater Annapolis is working with the local chapter of the Service Corps of Retired Executives to assist owners and managers of large and small businesses.

Two blocks of time per month are available for chamber members and other business owners who would like one-on-one advice. The confidential sessions are available by appointment the second and fourth Thursday of each month at 9 a.m. and 10: 30 a.m. Information: 410-757-6709 or 410-974-4402.

McKinsey Park project receives excellence award

The McKinsey Park Condominiums in Severna Park received the Award of Excellence in recognition of design, planning, and construction from the Home Builders Association of Maryland (HBAM).

The HBAM Land Use Council presented the award for Small Multi-Family projects at the Camden Yard Banquet Club. The award is for an innovative project that is sensitive to the environment and meets the needs of the area.

The McKinsey Park project was acknowledged for saving trees and preserving the flood plain. Information: 410-647-6000.

Meet and Mix event set at Cryptologic Museum

The Small Business Council Meet and Mix will be held from 4 p.m. to 6: 30 p.m. Sept. 10 at the National Cryptologic Museum, Fort Meade. The event is sponsored by the Maryland Chamber of Commerce. The cost of the meeting is $20 for Maryland Chamber members and $30 for nonmembers.

The program offers the chance to meet others and to learn about procurement opportunities with the National Security Agency.

There will also be a guided tour of the Cryptologic Museum.
