A 35-year-old Severn woman suffered severe head injuries yesterday when the car she was driving crashed head-on into another at Aviation Boulevard and Dorsey Road about 7: 30 a.m., county police said.

Gloria Deberry Mack of the 1700 block of LaSalle Place was listed in critical condition at Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where she was flown after the accident.

Ellen Machiko Maxton, 49, of Rohnert Park, Calif., the driver of the other vehicle, was treated for leg injuries at North Arundel Hospital and released.

Police said Maxton was following co-workers from the Defense Investigation Service south on Aviation Boulevard in a 1991 Chevy Corsica. The co-workers turned left onto Dorsey Road on a green arrow, but by the time Maxton entered the intersection, the light had turned into a solid green, allowing northbound traffic to proceed as well, police said.

Their cars collided when Mack drove into the intersection, police said. Mack was thrown into the windshield and roof of her 1991 Volkswagen Jetta, police said.

Both men are employed by the company in the 6600 block of Cabot Road.

Fowkes told police he was backing up when he felt his vehicle run over something.

When the officers, who had been called by neighbors, arrived at the house in the 400 block of Berkshire Drive just after 10: 40 p.m., they saw a large group of people run into the woods behind the house, police said. The officers entered the house through an open back door and found several people hiding inside.

Police arrested Ryan Eric Poet, 18, of the Berkshire Drive address; Valerie Lyle Smith, 18, of the 100 block of Claiborne Road in Edgewater; Sean Michael Hogan, 19, and Bryan Michael Bailey, 18, both of the 3000 block of Scottsborough Way in Riva; Brandon E.
