Senior Republican Club plans to meet Sept. 1

The Senior Republican Club will meet at 2 p.m. Sept. 1 in the meeting room of the Harundale Library. The guest speaker will be Richard N. Dixon, the state treasurer, and his topic will be "The State Treasurer's Office: Its Purpose, Mission and Responsibilities."

Mobile home owners' group will hold candidates' night

Anne Arundel County Mobile Home Owners' Association will hold a candidates' night at 7: 30 Aug. 26 in the auditorium of Wesley Grove United Methodist Church, 1320 Dorsey Board, Harmans. Twenty-five candidates for county and state positions have said they will attend.

Refreshments will be served after the meeting.

Ehrlich to address West County Republicans

The West County Republican Club will meet Tuesday at the Fort Meade Officers Club, beginning with social time at 6: 30 p.m. and a buffet dinner at 7 p.m. Republican Rep. Robert L. Ehrlich Jr. will be the guest speaker.

AEL is endorsing Evans for county executive

The Association of Educational Leaders, which represents principals, assistant principals, administrative interns, program coordinators and other central office personnel, has announced its support for Diane R. Evans, the Democratic candidate for county executive.

The AEL, in endorsing Evans, mentioned her understanding of and appreciation for the purpose and value of public education, her experience and her involvement in promoting the Cattail Creek Nature Area, recreational piers, historic roads, Small Area Planning Committees and safe school walking routes.

Group backs Johnson for re-election as sheriff

The Anne Arundel County Sergeant's Association has announced its endorsement of Sheriff George F. Johnson IV for re-election.

The association praised Johnson for forming close ties with the county Police Department.
