Camp update

August 06, 1998|By Gary Lambrecht

Another day, another fight: Tailback Errict Rhett is challenging offensive tackle Orlando Brown for the title of Player Most Likely To Brawl. During yesterday morning's practice, Rhett and safety Stevon Moore exchanged haymakers and yanked each other's face masks in a doozy that lasted a good minute. At least a dozen players, including Brown, helped break up the scuffle.

Up one day, down the next: Two days ago, second-year linebacker Tyrell Peters delivered the shot of the day by knocking fullback Kenyon Cotton off his feet. Yesterday, Rhett plowed over Peters during team drills in the afternoon.

Injury report: Wide receiver James Roe (quadriceps) missed both practices. Tight end Eric Green (knee) sat out the morning workout before coming back. Cornerback Alfred Jackson (hamstring) sat out the afternoon session. Offensive tackles Orlando Brown (ankle) and Jonathan Ogden (thumb) did limited work in the afternoon.

Important reminder: Fans who do not have a parking pass for Camden Yards cannot park on the stadium lot. Those without passes who plan to attend Saturday's game should either use public transportation or a downtown parking garage.

What a grab: Tight end Eric Green saved his best for last. Near the end of the afternoon session in the two-minute offense drill, Green reached out with one hand along the left sideline to snare a Jim Harbaugh pass.

Quote: "Cornerback is one of the easiest positions to master. Linebackers have to learn all of those blitzes and different assignments. A cornerback just has to cover."

-- Drew Rosenhaus, agent for Duane Starks, when asked how much a 16-day holdout will affect his season.
