Sykesville man arrested in Westminster, charged with possession of marijuana

August 06, 1998

A Sykesville man was arrested Tuesday in Westminster on charges of possession of marijuana, resisting arrest and obstructing and hindering justice.

Jerome Lee Myers, 34, of the 5700 block of Hodges Road was being held in lieu of $15,000 bail at the Carroll County Detention Center.

In charging documents, R. Clint Cromwell, a deputy sheriff assigned to serve warrants, reported that the suspect denied he was Myers. By the time Cromwell confirmed the man's identity with a nearby witness, the man had fled, and the deputy chased him for several blocks through yards and alleys before taking him into custody, the reports said.

Suspected marijuana was found in the man's pocket during a search, the deputy said.
