Mariners update

Seattle has won seven of its past nine but remains in last place in the AL West, one of baseball's most disappointing teams. The Mariners are 18-31 on the road. They'd prefer not having the outcome rest with their bullpen, which has blown 16 of 32 save opportunities and is 7-20 with a 5.55 ERA. The Orioles won both games here in June with late-inning homers by Rafael Palmeiro. Reliever Bob Wells has surrendered four homers to the Orioles this year, including two by Brady Anderson. The teams split two games in Seattle in late May. Fassero has given up 12 runs (nine earned) and 15 hits in two starts covering 6 2/3 innings. Moyer was torched for seven runs and nine hits in five innings of a June 2 start. Seattle leads the majors in homers but is only 39-40 when going deep.
