Riviera Beach residents to feast on crabs

CRABS WILL BE hot and plentiful at Riviera Beach Community Improvement Association's crab feast from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. July 25 at St. Jane Frances Hall in Riviera Beach.

Chairman Lee Archibald said that for the first time in years, the event is being held within walking distance for many Riviera Beach residents. "It's nice having the crab feast close to home," she said.

In addition to spicy, steamed crabs, the menu includes crab soup, pit beef and ham, other hot entrees, seasonal vegetables, salads, desserts, beer, soda and setups. Tickets are $25.

Proceeds will help fund maintenance and upkeep of community projects, including the boat ramp.

Ravens raffle

One lucky Ravens fan could attend this season's football games the new stadium if he or she has the winning ticket in a raffle sponsored by the Mountain Road Kiwanis Club.

Robert Baxter, club spokesman, said the raffle winner will take home two regular season tickets or $500 in cash.

Tickets are $2 or three for $5. The drawing will take place Aug. 25.

Proceeds will benefit area Kiwanis charitable projects.

Vacation Bible school

Jenkins Memorial Church in Riviera Beach is sponsoring vacation Bible school from 6: 30 p.m. to 8: 15 p.m. Monday to July 24. The church is at Jenkins Road and Riviera Drive.

The camp is free and open to youngsters age 4 through sixth grade.

The theme is Adventure Island: Come Follow the Son. Activities will include Bible stories, crafts, music and snacks.

Registration will be accepted Monday from 6 p.m. to 6: 30 p.m.

More Bible school

Magothy United Methodist Church is sponsoring its vacation Bible school from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. July 27 to 31 at the church, 3703 Mountain Road.

It costs $5 for the first child, and $1 for each additional child from the same family.

The camp's theme will be "Jesus Lights the Way."
