Groundbreaking on Monday for Sykesville post office

The U.S. Postal Service and Rep. Roscoe G. Bartlett, a 6th District Republican, will hold a groundbreaking ceremony for the new Sykesville post office at 9 a.m. Monday.

The ceremony will be held at the site of the facility at Route 32 and Progress Way. The post office is scheduled to open in the summer of 1999.

Fire

Sykesville: Firefighters responded at 7: 38 p.m. Tuesday to a brush fire in the 1600 block of Gemini Drive. Units were out one hour.

Sykesville: Firefighters responded at 11: 17 p.m. Tuesday to a woods fire on Liberty Road at the Baltimore County line. Units were out 20 minutes.

Sykesville: Firefighters responded at 2: 09 a.m. Wednesday to a fire alarm in the 7300 block of Springfield Ave. Units were out 22 minutes.

Sykesville: Firefighters responded at 5: 12 a.m. Wednesday to a house fire at Sharp Road and Shadey Lane. Units were out 22 minutes.
