BWI Business Partnership names officers and directors

BWI Business Partnership Inc. has named its board of directors for 1998-1999. Samuel F. Heffner (Airport Square) was re-elected chairman.

Other officers named during the annual meeting include: James J. Cannelli (Anne Arundel County Department of Planning and Code Enforcement), president; C. Lloyd Carpenter (Northrop Grumman Corp.), vice chairman; Jay Hierholzer (Maryland Aviation Administration), treasurer; and James Piper III (O'Conor, Piper & Flynn-ERA), secretary.

Catherine S. Hill (National Security Agency) will serve as charter director ex officio. Named to serve as general directors were: Frank J. Guillot (TNT Logistics Inc.); James W. Kirscher (NationsBank); Richard H. Pettinghill (Casey/ONCOR International); Karen M. Price (Southwest Airlines); Richard J. Staub (Doubletree Guest Suites); and Beverly M. Wilhide (Office of the County Executive, Howard County).

In addition, the partnership named Mark Behm (UMBC) and Milton H. Miller Sr. (Miller Corporate Real Estate) to serve as special advisers on higher education and transportation matters.

Neil N. Shpritz is executive director of BWI Business Partnership Inc., a nonprofit, public/private association of employers that promotes the business climate and economic development potential of the region, advocates transportation and clean-air policies, and develops commuter services in the area.


Michael Millard has been named vice president, acquisition, development and construction lending for the Columbia Bank, a full-service commercial bank with headquarters in Howard County. He was formerly president and chief executive officer of Baltimore Savings and Loan Association. He will be in the bank's Ellicott City headquarters offices.
