Rouse is honored by Housing Council

Patricia "Patty" Rouse, wife of the late James Rouse, was selected last week by the National Housing Council as its 1998 Housing Person of the Year.

She was honored at a Washington dinner for her lifelong commitment and leadership in the fields of affordable housing and community development. In 1982, Mrs. Rouse, with her husband, started the Enterprise Foundation, whose mission is to provide opportunities for low-income people to find affordable housing. Since then, the foundation has worked with 940 nonprofit organizations in 280 locations across the country, and has built or renovated 86,000 homes.

Past recipients of the award include David O. Maxwell, chairman of the board of Fannie Mae, and Cushing N. Dolbeare, founder of the National Low Income Housing Coalition.

Open house today at Loch Raven Village

Loch Raven Village in Baltimore County is holding a community open house today from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

A variety of homes, with prices starting around $85,000, will be open to prospective buyers. "I don't know anywhere else in the county that offers homebuyers a better value," said Bruce Smith, a 12-year resident of Loch Raven Village.

The community lies east and west of Loch Raven Boulevard between Taylor Avenue and Joppa Road. Towson Marketplace and Calvert Hall College High School form the western boundary, and Edgewood Road separates it from Loch Raven Heights to the east.

Find a landscaper on the Internet

The Landscape Contractors Association of Maryland, the District of Columbia and Virginia has established an Internet Web site at www.lcamddcva.org.

Consumers can avail themselves of the "find a landscape professional" feature, which is searchable by types of work and geographic areas.

Information about the association's coming events and programs will also be featured on the Web site.

Image consultant to conduct seminar

"Professional Image Impact" is a free seminar scheduled for 7: 30 p.m. July 15 at Bibelot in the Timonium Crossing Shopping Center at York and Timonium roads.

Judy Pressman, a certified national image consultant, will show sales associates how "to make a statement which will reflect personal style as a vehicle to greater success."

New Colony Village in Elkridge has broken ground for its clubhouse. which is scheduled to open by midsummer. The center will include a community party room, kitchen, meeting room and swimming pool.

Bozzuto Mortgage Co. named Lee Zadareky president of the firm, which is a division of the Bozzuto Group. Zadareky previously served as vice president of operations.

Columbia National Mortgage Corp. appointed James E. Holthaus Jr. vice president/branch manager for its Howard County office. Holthaus previously worked for the Builder Group at Provident Bank.

Harkins Builders promoted Mark Kelehan to site manager with the Silver Spring firm.

Michael T. Rose Associates Inc. said Norman Palmer has joined the Laurel-based company as chief financial officer.

O'Conor, Piper & Flynn-ERA Realtors said Amanda Buchanan joined the firm as a sales associate in its Timonium office.

Ryland Mortgage Co. appointed Daniel G. Schreiner president of the firm, which is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Ryland Group Inc. Before joining Ryland, Schreiner was president of Kaufman and Broad Mortgage Co.
