Time travel for kids

Try your hand at a game of hoops, a round of lawn bowling or a badminton match at the Homewood House Museum's "19th-Century Children's Games," offered through August. Families can partake of traditional games and experience a bit of what life was like for children during this time.

Go back a little further in time and discover what Colonial life was like for kids at the Mount Clare Museum House's "Colonial Kids: Fun Fridays at Mount Clare," offered throughout July. These Friday programs include a hands-on tour of Mount Clare Mansion, a visit with archaeologists, crafts, cooking and games in the Mount Clare Stable, all geared toward children ages 6 to 9.

The Homewood House event takes place Tuesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 3 p.m. at 3400 N. Charles St. All games are included in the admission cost of $6 for adults; $3 for students; free for ages under 6. Call 410-516-5589. The Mount Clare event takes place tomorrow, July 10 and July 31 from 9 a.m. to noon at Carroll Park, 1500 Washington Blvd. $5 fee. Call 410-837-3262.

The grounds open for picnics at 5 p.m., with the concert beginning at 6 p.m. Fireworks start just after dark. Visitors are encouraged to bring a picnic supper. College Manor is at 300 W. Seminary Ave. in Lutherville. All events are free. Call 410-252-0440.
