Mets update

The Mets had lost four in a row before beating Florida, 3-2, yesterday. Their 3.18 ERA leads the league, but only five teams have a lower team batting average than the Mets' .254. Nine of New York's 39 wins have come in their last at-bat. The Mets also have made the fewest errors in the NL (39). Third baseman Edgar Alfonzo is 15-for-36 (.417) with 11 RBIs in his last nine games. Second baseman Carlos Baerga, the subject of trade rumors with the Orioles, is 38-for-112 (.339) in his last 29 games. First baseman John Olerud is 11-for-30 (.367) lifetime against Mussina. Rafael Palmeiro is 12-for-27 (.444) against Mets reliever Dennis Cook. Catcher Mike Piazza has hit safely in 18 of 22 games with the Mets (33-for-88, .375), but has homered only twice. Jones has won his last five decisions. Nomo hasn't won since April 28. Reed has flirted with two perfect games since May 29.
