A 27-year-old West Baltimore man was fatally shot yesterday afternoon while sitting in a car in the 1900 block of N. Payson St., city police reported.

The victim, Avon Parker of the 2400 block of Winchester St., was in a passenger seat in the parked car when an unknown man approached on a bicycle about 3 p.m. and shot Parker several times, police said.

The driver of the car, whose name was not divulged, drove Parker to Liberty Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Homicide detectives were still investigating the slaying, along with two other serious shootings in the city last night.
