First National names Smith to head banking unit

First National Bank of Maryland recently appointed Michael T. Smith to head its Metro/Anne Arundel Business and Priority Banking unit.

Smith joined First National in 1996 from First Fidelity Bank, where he was a vice president in the commercial lending division's community business banking group.

Fedder Co., Briarwood Group acquire Chesapeake Square

The Fedder Company of Glen Burnie and the Briarwood Group of Baltimore recently acquired the Chesapeake Square Shopping Center on Governor Ritchie Highway in Glen Burnie.

The 213,716-square-foot shopping center is anchored by a Mars Supermarket, Kmart, Factory Card Outlet, Fashion Bug, Parts America and Pizza Hut. The Fedder Company, through its management affiliate, manages 10 properties totaling nearly 700,000 square feet of retail, office, and warehouse properties.
