Main Street Estate Group appoints vice president

The Main Street Estate Group Inc. has named Kris Kelly vice president of administration. She will be responsible for administration, operations and sales/marketing activities.

Kelly is a graduate of Notre Dame Preparatory School, Strayer University and Peabody Conservatory of Music. She was previously with the Towson University Center for Instructional Advancement and Technology.

Main Street Estate Group helps individuals and families plan their estate. Charles "Mike" Preston was installed as president of the Maryland State Bar Association yesterday during the association's annual meeting in Ocean City.

He is a partner in the Westminster law firm of Stoner, Preston & Boswell.

Preston's priorities for the group in the coming year are attorney civility, professionalism and improving the image of lawyers.

He is a graduate of Western Maryland College, with a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Baltimore School of Law. He was admitted to the Maryland Bar in 1970.

He was a Carroll County Circuit Court law clerk and worked for the firm of Hoffman & Hoffman before joining Stoner & Boswell in 1980.

Preston was president-elect for the past year and served as treasurer for six years. Martin Frank of Westminster has been promoted to assistant regional administrator for Region IV in the Maryland Division of Parole and Probation. His duties will include administration of field offices in Hagerstown, Frederick, Cumberland, Oakland and Montgomery and Baltimore counties.

He will assist the regional administrator in supervising the administration of more than 200 parole and probation personnel in those areas.

The division supervises criminal and drinking-driver offenders and conducts investigations.

One of Frank's goals is to help Maryland criminal offenders become drug-free.

He joined the division in 1977.

Frank has a bachelor's degree from the University of Maryland and graduate credits from the Johns Hopkins University and Western Maryland College. Bryan C. Atwell of Woodbine has been promoted to manager of 1st Mariner Bank's Padonia Road office in Timonium.

In his new position, he will focus on the sale of home equity lines, loans and overall business development.

He is a 1993 graduate of Towson University, with a bachelor's degree in business.

Maryland Midland Railway names senior vice president

David W. Bordner has been promoted to treasurer, corporate secretary and senior vice president of finance and administration at Maryland Midland Railway.

He previously was chief financial officer.

A native of Northumberland, Pa., Bordner has a bachelor's degree in business administration from Bloomsburg State University and certified public accountant certification from Catonsville Community College.

Bordner joined Maryland Midland in 1994. He lives in Westminster.
