Long & Foster posts 2nd month of sales topping $1 billion

Long & Foster Real Estate Inc. reported more than $1 billion in sales for April, the second consecutive month the company surpassed that plateau.

The company said it had more than $1.13 billion in sales from 6,095 transactions in the month, an increase of 31 percent over April 1997.

In March, the firm had more than $1.15 billion in sales from 6,434 transactions, the best month in its 30-year history.

All of Long & Foster's regions posted gains, with the Baltimore area up 26 percent over April 1997. The 29 offices recorded sales of just over $201 million.

Leading the way among Baltimore-area offices were the Annapolis, Columbia and Greenspring locations, which combined for $54 million in sales.

News in brief

Harbor View Contractors recently received two awards from the Baltimore Metropolitan Chapter of the Associated Builders and Contractors. The Mill at Bel Air, a farm supply store project, received a renovation Award of Excellence in the $500,000 to $1 million category. Harbor View also earned an honorable mention for its expansion work at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Baltimore.

O'Conor, Piper & Flynn-ERA said Larry Snyder, a sales associate in the Jacksonville office, earned the Certified Residential Specialist designation from the Residential Sales Council of the Realtors National Marketing Institute, an affiliate of the National Association of Realtors.

Weinberg Terrace, a senior housing facility with 86 one-bedroom apartments at 1450 Bedford Ave. in Pikesville, earned a 1998 Multi-Family Award of Excellence from the Associated Builders and Contractors. The project was designed by Kann & Associates Inc., a Baltimore architectural firm, and the general contractor was Harkins Builders of Silver Spring.

Century 21 Anthony-Gavern Realtors said Yvette Adesuyi joined the firm as a sales associate.

O'Conor, Piper & Flynn-ERA said the following sales associates have joined the firm: Cheryl Shelton, Bel Air/Abingdon; Cora Compton, Crofton; Debbie Neimeth, Greenspring; Ted Kramer, Hampstead; Charlie Stockett, Hunt Valley; and Mary Hamilton, Severna Park.

Residential Realty Group Inc. promoted Jodi Baumel to comptroller of the condominium and homeowners association property management company.
