Teachers of the month selected

June 11, 1998

Vocal music teacher Kevin King and English teacher Teresa Hoffman were selected by the Student Government Association Executive Board as teachers of the month for April and May at South Carroll High School.

Besides teaching chorus and music theory, King directs the Madrigals a cappella choir and the music for drama productions. He has taught at South Carroll for 16 years.

King is a graduate of Peabody Preparatory and Towson University. He sings in a barbershop quartet and has been a tenor choir soloist for 25 years.

Hoffman teaches British literature, SAT Prep and reading. She has been at South Carroll for 21 years. She has a bachelor's degree from Montclair State University and a master's degree from Loyola College.

She has been scholarship chairwoman for the Carroll Reading Council and the school's improvement team.

Fire

Mount Airy: Firefighters responded at 3: 04 p.m. Tuesday to an auto fire on Interstate 70. Units were out 28 minutes.

Police

Westminster: A West Friendship resident told police Monday that personal property was stolen and a window was broken while his vehicle was parked on Greenwood Avenue. The damage and loss were estimated at $1,345.
