Meet Livan Hernandez

Livan Hernandez was a star pitcher for Cuba's national team three years ago.

Livan wanted to pitch in the major leagues. But people in Cuba have little freedom. They are rarely allowed to move to another country.

So Livan sneaked out of Cuba and escaped to the U.S. He signed a $4.5 million contract with the Florida Marlins.

Livan helped the Marlins win the 1997 World Series and was the Series MVP. "It was the happiest day of my life," he says .
