Housing Institute honors 'New Colony Village' in Howard

New Colony Village of Elkridge was named "Best New Land-Lease Community in the United States" by the Manufactured Housing Institute at the 1998 National Manufactured Housing Congress recently in Las Vegas.

Developed by the partnership of Corridor I Development Co., Village Builders and Schult Homes, the Howard County development is the nation's first two-story manufactured home community.

New Colony Village features include a gated entrance, clubhouse with fitness center, multipurpose sport court, swimming pool, day-care center and general store.

Prices start at $109,990 for a single-family home. Buyers own their homes and pay a monthly village fee that covers their home site, property taxes, recreational facilities and yard maintenance.

Last year, New Colony Village received the "Building Innovation in Homeownership Award" from the National Partners in Homeownership, and developers Mark Levy and Wayne Newsome of Corridor I won 1997 Professional Builder Achievement Awards from Professional Builder magazine.
