Quote: "I remember once I was hitting .150, but I didn't go out and try to kill anybody."

-- A Kansas City Royal who spoke on condition of anonymity, on teammate Felix Martinez's apparently throwing a sucker punch in a brawl with the Anaheim Angels Tuesday.

It's a fact: The Devil Rays' Fred McGriff broke a string of 29 games without a homer last night. He had gone since April 28, a stretch of 111 at-bats, without a home run.

Who's hot: Blue Jays catcher Kevin L. Brown doubled and tripled last night and raised his average to .309.

Who's not: After blown saves against the Orioles on Monday and Tuesday, the Mariners have 13 in 22 opportunities this season. They had 27 blown saves last year.

On deck: Yankees starter Hideki Irabu, AL Pitcher of the Month for May with a 4-1 record and a 1.44 ERA, faces the Devil Rays' Dennis Springer, who won for the first time since April 4 in his last outing.
