Man robs Union National Bank in Westminster

Police have few leads in Friday's robbery of Union National Bank in Westminster, in which a man walked away with an undisclosed amount of money.

Westminster police said no one was injured in the 4 p.m. robbery at West Main Street and Pennsylvania Avenue.

The man handed a teller a note demanding money. He displayed no weapon, police said.

Witnesses described the robber as white, about 25 years old and 5 feet 8 inches tall. He had dark wavy hair and wore a baseball cap, sunglasses, a black T-shirt, khaki shorts, white socks and white tennis shoes, police said.

Anyone who might have seen someone or a vehicle waiting near the bank should call Westminster police at 410-848-4646.

Two teen-agers charged in burglary at Baugher's

A Westminster man and a juvenile were charged Friday in a burglary May 19 at Baugher's restaurant, 289 W. Main St., police said.

Burglars got away with $1,000 in merchandise, police said. Cash registers taken from the restaurant were found damaged in a JTC nearby field, police said. The registers had been pried open to remove a small amount of money.

Dennis C. Roose Jr., 18, of the 300 block of Buck Cash Road and a 15-year-old boy were arrested on charges of second- and fourth-degree burglary, theft over $300 and malicious destruction, police said.

The juvenile is being held at Cheltenham Youth Center in Prince George's County. Roose was released on an unsecured $25,000 bond, police said.

Westminster: A resident of East Main Street told police Sunday that someone damaged a front door and lock to his home. Damage was estimated at $150.

Westminster: A resident of Long Valley Road told police Friday that personal property was stolen from his vehicle. The loss was estimated at $100.

Westminster: A resident of Long Valley Road told police Friday that someone entered his unlocked vehicle and stole personal property. The loss was estimated at $7,450.

Westminster: A resident of Johahn Drive told police Friday that a ring and medication were stolen from her home. The loss was estimated at $250.

Westminster: A resident of Pennsylvania Avenue told police Friday that someone broke the rear window of his vehicle and stole personal property. The loss was estimated at $270.

Fires

Westminster: Firefighters responded at 12: 12 a.m. yesterday to an auto fire in the 500 block of Gorsuch Road. Units were out 20 minutes.

Westminster: Firefighters responded at 1: 36 p.m. Sunday to a fire alarm in the 400 block of Baronets Circle. Units were out 14 minutes.

Westminster: Firefighters from Reese, Pleasant Valley and Union Bridge assisted Westminster at 12: 23 a.m. Saturday, responding to a dryer fire in the first block of S. Center St. Units were out an hour and four minutes.

Westminster: Firefighters responded at 5: 43 p.m. Thursday to a gas grill fire in the 200 block of Alymer Court. Units were out 28 minutes.
