An inmate serving a 15-year sentence for armed robbery escaped yesterday from the Maryland Correctional Pre-Release System in East Baltimore, corrections officials reported.

Kevin Spencer, 33, of Baltimore, escaped about 11: 25 a.m. by jumping a fence, said corrections spokeswoman Maxine Eldridge.

Spencer had served 12 years of the 15-year sentence and was within two years of being released. If caught, he could be charged with escape and be sentenced to an additional 10 years, Eldridge said.
