Giants: San Francisco moved a season-high nine games over .500 (33-24). J. T. Snow, bothered by an inflammation in his right shoulder, returned to the starting lineup for the first time in seven games.

Mets: Bernard Gilkey is batting .483 (14-for-29) over the past seven games. Carlos Baerga, who has four homers in his past nine games, didn't start, but came in to play second in the fifth and went 2-for-3.

Phillies: Pitcher Toby Borland, who was 9-6 with Philadelphia from 1994 to 1996, rejoined the team after being called up from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Pirates: Kevin Polcovich's seventh-inning error ended Pittsburgh's 46-inning errorless streak. The team completed its first winning May (15-14) since it was 17-8 in 1991. Francisco Cordova has allowed two or fewer runs in 10 of his 12 starts. Mark Smith's pinch-hit double made him 4-for-8 since he started the season 0-for-31.
