Red Sox: Pedro Martinez won his other start at Yankee Stadium, striking out 10 in a complete game last Aug. 30 for the Expos.

Royals: Dean Palmer committed his third error of the series in the fifth inning. Palmer had two errors Saturday.

Twins: Since David Wells' perfect game against them on May 17, the Twins have scored 6.5 runs per game and are averaging 11 hits. Minnesota is last in the AL in home runs (40).

White Sox: Mike Caruso's homer was his first since April 15. He's batting .478 (11-for-23) in his past five games as Chicago's No. 2 hitter. Wil Cordero is batting .319 (15-for-47) in his past 12 games.

Yankees: Bernie Williams had four hits, giving him 10 in his past three games. The attendance of 200,244 was the biggest for a four-game series at Yankee Stadium since 215,510 saw Toronto in September 1985. Joe Girardi hit his first homer since April 28, 1997.
