Police Blotter is a sampling of crimes in Baltimore and Baltimore County.

Southwestern District

Officer assaulted/arrest: Officer Clifford White was in the 4100 block of Frederick Ave. about 5: 30 p.m. Friday when a man driving a Toyota Camry allegedly tried to run him down. White was uninjured and the 47-year-old driver was arrested a short distance away and charged with first-degree assault.

Robbery: A 30-year-old woman was in the 2500 block of Boyd St. about 1: 30 a.m. Friday when a teen-age male with a BB pistol robbed her of $20. The youth was arrested and charged as an adult with armed robbery.

Eastern District

Shooting: A man, 76, was sitting on the front steps of his house in the 1600 block of N. Bethel St. about 9: 30 p.m. Saturday when a man with a shotgun stepped from a nearby alley and fired a blast, missing his intended victim, who was standing nearby, and hitting the elderly man in both knees. The victim was in stable condition at Johns Hopkins Hospital yesterday.

Shooting: A gunman fired eight shots at a man in the 1600 block of E. Lanvale St. about 10: 15 p.m. Saturday, hitting the victim once in the left leg. He was treated at Johns Hopkins Hospital.

Shooting: A man was sitting on his porch in the 700 block of Bartlett Ave. about 8: 30 p.m. Saturday when a man shot him in the left leg. The victim was treated at Johns Hopkins Hospital.

Southern District

Shooting: A 23-year-old man was about to use a pay phone in the 2200 block of Annapolis Road in Westport about 12: 30 a.m. yesterday when an unknown man shot him in the leg, shoulder and back of the head with a large-caliber handgun. The victim was in critical condition at Maryland Shock Trauma Center.

Theft: Two 18-speed mountain bicycles valued at more than $1,500 were stolen Saturday from the back yard of a house in the 100 block of S. Churchill St.

Northwestern District

Shooting: A man fleeing a gunman in an alley in the 3200 block of Piedmont Ave. about midnight Saturday was shot in both ankles. The victim was in stable condition at Sinai Hospital yesterday.

Northern District

Burglary: A diamond ring and 30 compact discs, all valued at $600, were stolen from a house in the 2100 block of Carterdale Road on Saturday.

White Marsh Precinct

Burglary: A lawn mower was stolen Saturday from a garage in the 6200 block of Scranton Road.

Essex Precinct

Burglary: A watch and ring were stolen Friday from a house in the 800 block of Arncliffe Road.

Garrison Precinct

Stolen car: A 1993 Toyota Land Cruiser with tags 912647M was stolen in the 6800 block of Huntington Drive on Friday night or Saturday morning.

Robbery: Two men were talking in the 3700 block of N. Rolling Road about 1: 15 a.m. Saturday when a man approached, struck one of the men in the head with a handgun and robbed him of his cash, watch and shirt, all valued at more than $500. The victim was treated at Northwest Hospital Center.
