ROSEDALE — The Carroll County Public Library will begin its summer reading club on June 8, kicking off a season of puppet shows, story-time programs, craft workshops and other activities.

"Come to the Fair Be a Blue Ribbon Reader" is the theme of this year's program. Children who register for the reading club will receive a reading log that will be stamped by a librarian on visits. Libraries will award prizes to children for each seven days that they read, and their names will be sent to their schools.

Activities for the first week include: "Farm Animal Fun" at the Mount Airy Library, at 10 a.m. June 9; "Coyote Tales Puppet Show" at the Taneytown Library at 10 and 11 a.m. and 1: 30 p.m.; and a summer-long "Animals on Parade" photo exhibit at the North Carroll Library, to which children can contribute.

ROSEDALE -- The Rosedale branch of the Baltimore County Public Library will hold a "Teddy Bear Picnic" of stories and activities for children ages 2 to 6, with an adult, at 11 a.m. on Tuesday.

Children should bring a teddy bear or stuffed toy, as well as a bagged lunch. The Rosedale library is at 6105 Kenwood Ave. Information: 410-887-0512.
