May 29, 1998|BY A SUN STAFF WRITER

A passenger on a Mass Transit Administration bus was injured yesterday when the vehicle drifted backward on a North Baltimore street and caused an accident that involved another bus and two cars, said an agency spokesman.

Anthony Brown, spokesman for the MTA, said the driver stopped the No. 36 bus at a layover in the the 500 block of E. Northern Parkway about 3: 30 p.m.

Brown said that after the driver left the bus, it drifted backward, hopped a median strip into the opposite lane and hit another bus. The second bus struck a Mazda Protege, which hit a car, he said. He said the passenger was treated at Union Memorial Hospital and the Mazda driver at the scene.
