Self-storage facility planned in Glen Burnie

Glen Burnie will be the site of an 80,000-square-foot self-storage facility within a year.

The facility will be built by Arlington, Va.-based U-Store, which owns 11 self-storage facilities in the Baltimore-Washington area, including one on Russell Street in Baltimore. The site is part of eight acres owned by Joe Aiello, owner of JBA Chevrolet. Ground will be broken before the end of the year.

Laurel Marketing & Design wins award for creativity

Laurel Marketing & Design has won a 1997 Summit Creative Award for outstanding work for the Association of International Automobile Manufactures. The winning entry, their client's 1997 annual report, combines full-color photos, charts and typography. The report's covers use mock automobile license plates to convey some of the contributions of International Automakers to the U.S. economy ("CRE 8 US JBS" and "NVST N AMER").

Simmons joins MS & A as head of client relations

Shawna Simmons recently joined Maseritz, Schubert & Associates (MS & A), in Annapolis as director of client relations. Formerly with Manis Canning & Associates and program director for the Greater Annapolis Chamber of Commerce, Simmons will be working in the promotion and marketing services for MS & A, which specializes in insurance and estate tax planning. She will be responsible for business development and will oversee community development, seminars and client relations.

June 11 dinner to honor women's achievements

The YWCA of Annapolis and Anne Arundel County announces that the TWIN 1998 Program will be under the corporate sponsorship of Merck & Co. The annual dinner on June 11 will honor county women for their achievements in business.

Anne Arundel County businesses are invited to submit the names of female employees in management or executive positions who have made significant contributions to their companies.

O'Conor, Piper and Flynn names sales associate

The Severna Park office of O'Conor, Piper and Flynn-ERA has a new sales associate, office managers Lew Heck and John Giddings have announced. Mary Hamilton has joined the Severna Park "home team" and will be based at 572-A Ritchie Highway.

An associate broker, Hamilton has 20 years of real estate experience. She is a former manager with Long and Foster.
