Blue Jays: Toronto is back at .500 (23-23) for the first time since April 4, when it was 2-2. OF Shannon Stewart sat out his third straight game with an injured right hand. Stewart, hurt sliding into second base Monday, is expected to return this weekend.

Devil Rays: Pitchers struck out 13, a franchise record. Julio Santana struck out two, Jim Mecir three and Scott Aldred one.

Tigers: Yesterday's extra-inning game was their first of the season. Detroit was the only major-league team that hadn't played one. The team's 12 extra-base hits on Wednesday were its most since getting seven doubles and five homers at Baltimore on June 21, 1987.

Twins: Minnesota had 13 first-inning runs in a three-game series against Detroit.
