School board to hold public forum tonight

May 19, 1998|BY A SUN STAFF WRITER

The Baltimore school board will hold a public forum from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Arnett J. Brown Jr. Middle School, 2700 Seamon Ave. in South Baltimore.

The meeting has no set topic. Unlike the board's weekly public meetings, board members will interact with students, parents, teachers and community members who show up to ask questions.

Board members were criticized during a recent meeting for being unresponsive to questions asked by audience members. Members themselves have expressed frustration with the formal setting at their meetings. Tonight's public forum will be the first in an occasional series, the board said.
