Wishbone, the doggie star of the popular PBS show and book series, just loves to dig up classic stories. We recently got the busy terrier to paws (get it?) and tell the Yak about his adventures. Rick Duffield, creator and executive producer of "Wishbone," translated the woofs and arfs for us. Here's what he said:

Q: What's your all-time favorite story?

A: Gosh, I really don't have a favorite. In fact, the thing I love most about doing this show is that we explore so many different types of stories. I get to play everything from heroes to adventure hounds. And I get to do zany comedy, too!

Q: Do you have a favorite animal actor?

A: I admire the dogs who broke the species barrier in Hollywood: Lassie, Rin Tin Tin, Benji. It was Snoopy, though, who unleashed the power of the canine imagination.

Q: You're a well-dressed dog. How many outfits do you own?

A: So far, my pals in the wardrobe department have made about 200 costumes for me. They work hard to make me look good. When I'm not acting, I'm busy just being a dog, and like every other dog, I prefer my own natural coat.

Q: What's your favorite role?

A: I like being the "leading dog" but I'm not typecast. This show gives me a chance to taste a variety of meaty parts. I really liked making "Prince and the Pooch," our show based on Mark Twain's book "The Prince and the Pauper." In that episode, I got to play two different parts, besides myself, of course.

Q: What are your favorite toys and treats?

A: I've got more favorite foods than most humans. My owner, Jackie, feeds me little bits of smoked chicken when I'm working. Good energy food. My favorite toy is a rubber soccer ball - I love to play catch with it!

Q: What are people like to work with?

A: Everybody on the crew is very nice to me. Jackie makes it easy for me to work with new people and strange situations. My favorite part of working with people is playing ball or tug-of-war during breaks.
