CUMBERLAND -- A Baltimore man serving 49 years for murder, theft and narcotics convictions, has died of an apparent drug overdose at a state prison near Cumberland, according to the Maryland State Police.

Duane Anthony Brown, 36, was found unconscious in his cell at the Western Correctional Institution Monday. Authorities said they were awaiting an autopsy report to confirm the cause of death.

Another inmate from Baltimore, Henry Witherspoon, 44, died of a drug overdose at the same prison in February.

The Waldorf School of Baltimore and Coldspring Community Association will co-sponsor their first preschool and community festival today. The event is intended to strengthen their relationship and to promote Waldorf's educational program for young children.

From 10 a.m. to 11: 30 a.m., parents will be able to join their children, ages 2 to 6, in creative activities led by Waldorf teachers. A complimentary lunch will be provided, with the Coldspring community as host, followed by open houses and tours of the Coldspring Swim and Tennis Club.

The day will conclude with afternoon children's entertainment and a community softball game. The school is in Baltimore's Coldspring New Town community at 4801 Tamarind Road. Information: 410-367-6808.
