Boat beat: Chessie Racing and Silk Cut continue their speed-demon ways. Both maintain a one- to two-knot advantage on the other W60's. Silk Cut has moved up to second, 8.7 nautical miles behind leader Toshiba and Chessie jumped from seventh to fifth. Both boats were farthest north of the fleet and the strategy has paid off.

Weather: A high-pressure system at 45-48N/15-18W is moving northerly to 48-50N/12-15W today. Winds will become lighter, but will pick up later in the week.
