For the past two days, Toshiba's lead has been fewer than two miles. Silk Cut is now 133 miles behind Toshiba after making a move north in an attempt to find more pressure. EF Language, the overall leader after seven legs, was third, 28.2 miles behind Toshiba. Innovation Kvaerner was some 38 miles back. The eighth leg, which began in Annapolis, is expected to end Saturday in La Rochelle, France.

Weather: High pressure from the east-southeast will bring an 18-30-hour period of light winds around 15-25 knots.
