Boat beat: The animal life seems to be providing unusual experiences on this leg. Chessie saw flying fish jumping at the light on the bow of the boat. "It was like getting hit by a baseball while you were standing at bat," skipper John Kostecki said. EF Language had a shark caught on her keel, and a large whale hit the hull before surfacing behind the boat. Silk Cut had a 20-foot whale jump beside the boat during a sail change.

Weather: Winds will freshen from the southwest at 20-30 knots.
