Police Blotter is a sampling of crimes in Baltimore and Baltimore County.

Western District

Drug deal/shooting: Moments after a man and his girlfriend purchased what they thought was heroin from a man in the 1800 block of Penrose Ave. about 4 p.m. yesterday, the couple discovered the substance wasn't heroin and complained to the seller. About five minutes later, according to police Detective Robert Winder of the violent crimes task force, a gunman appeared and shot the woman's companion in the left calf and armpit. The gunman and the drug dealer fled. The wounded man was treated at Maryland Shock Trauma Center. The woman was not harmed.

Drug arrest: Officer John Hodge was in the 1700 block of Edmondson Ave. on Sunday when he witnessed an apparent drug transaction between a pedestrian and a motorist. When the motorist drove off, Hodge arrested the pedestrian, seized three vials of suspected cocaine and charged the man with drug possession.

Northwestern District

Stolen car: A white 1988 Chevrolet station wagon with tags EJL 682 was stolen Sunday in the 4700 block of Gwynns Falls Parkway.

Eastern District

Theft: While a man was asking the occupant of a house in the 400 block of E. 22nd St. if she wanted her lawn mowed Sunday, someone stole the man's lawn mower and gas can that he had left unattended in front of the dwelling.

Southern District

Robbery/arrests: A 35-year-old woman was in the 3400 block of Spelman Road in Cherry Hill about 4 a.m. Sunday when she was attacked by two women and a man. One of the suspects struck the woman with an umbrella and robbed her of $20. Later, police arrested Charles Hodles, 21, and Denesha Poyner, 22, both of the 3400 block of Spelman Road, and Sabrina Jones, 16, of the 900 block of Seagull Ave., and charged each with armed assault and robbery.

Northern District

Robbery: A woman, 60, was in the 2600 block of St. Paul St. about 8: 30 p.m. Sunday when a man grabbed her around the neck and stole her purse with cash and property, all of unknown value.

Burglary: Three watches and jewelry, all valued at nearly $1,500, were stolen Sunday from a house in the 400 block of Evesham Ave. by someone who entered through a first-floor bedroom window.

Cockeysville Precinct

Robbery: A man wearing a mask and a knit cap pulled over his face robbed the Crown service station in the 2400 block of York Road of an undisclosed sum of money about 1 a.m. yesterday .

Garrison Precinct

Stolen car: A gray 1991 Mercury with tags 613 BBZ was stolen from the Owings Mills Mall parking lot Sunday.
