Twins update

In need of a pick-me-up, the Orioles welcome their foil from last year. The Twins lost 10 of 11 to the AL East champions in 1997, including a five-game sweep at Camden Yards. Aside from a six-game losing streak that ended April 21, the Twins (11-16) have given a representative performance behind a solid pitching staff that begins the weekend with a league-leading 4.00 ERA. The Twins remain confounded by close games, losing six times in the last at-bat, going 4-12 in games decided by three runs or fewer and 1-7 in one-run games. They are also 1-11 when their opponent scores first. Brad Radke ranks third in AL ERA (2.10) and fifth in strikeout ratio (8.4 per nine innings). He earned the Twins' lone win over the Orioles last year. The Twins were 0-4 against Scott Erickson last season. Paul Molitor (eight hits in his last 47 at-bats) and Brent Gates (1-for-36) are struggling.
