Central District
Bank robbery/arrest: A man who implied he was armed robbed Provident Bank of Maryland in the 100 block of E. Lexington St. about noon Monday, police said. Police arrested a man a few blocks away after a bank security officer pointed him out to a Housing Authority Police officer. Bruce Ward, 46, of no fixed address was charged with bank robbery and was being held by the FBI in Woodlawn, pending a hearing in U.S. District Court. Money taken in the robbery was recovered.
Northwestern District
Shooting: A gunman shot a man in the right hip early yesterday in the 2700 block of Delaware Ave. The victim was treated at Sinai Hospital.
Burglary: Fifty dollars in coins, a .32-caliber Smith & Wesson handgun valued at $200 and four cartons of cigarettes valued at $80 were stolen Monday from Jim Parker's Lounge in the 3300 block of Garrison Blvd.
Robbery: A man assaulted a woman in her home in the 3400 block of Gwynns Falls Parkway about 2 a.m. Tuesday and robbed her of a shirt and other property, all valued at $119. A warrant was issued for the suspect's arrest.
Southern District
Purse snatch: Two men stole a woman's purse containing cash and property, all of unknown value, in the 2300 block of Annapolis Road about 6 p.m. Tuesday.
Western District
Theft: A telephone of unknown value was stolen from the city's Sandtown Winchester Community Development Corp. in the 1100 block of N. Mount St. on Tuesday.
Stolen vehicle: A black 1994 Jeep Cherokee with tags M109642 was stolen Tuesday in the 1800 block of W. Lexington St.
Eastern District
Assault: A 14-year-old girl was in the 1400 block of Orleans St. on Tuesday when a girl struck her several times with an umbrella, causing back, head, neck and facial injuries. The victim was treated at Johns Hopkins Hospital.
Cutting: A man was cut on the face and left hand with a knife when four men attacked him Tuesday in the 800 block of Harford Road. The victim was treated at Church Hospital.
Robbery: A gunman robbed a man of $20 in the 1700 block of N. Chester St. about 5 p.m. Tuesday.
White Marsh Precinct
Robbery: A 13-year-old boy was in the 4600 block of Ebenezer Road about 7: 30 a.m. Tuesday when an older boy struck him in the face and stole his portable radio.
Towson Precinct
Robbery try: An 8-year-old boy was riding his bike across the parking lot of a medical center building in the 8500 block of Loch Raven Blvd. on Tuesday when an older boy tried to steal it. The suspect fled when the younger boy resisted him.
Garrison Precinct
Robbery/arrest: Police arrested one youth and were seeking two others after a teen-age male was robbed of his book bag and books in the 8100 block of Liberty Road about 10 p.m. Tuesday.
Robbery: A woman was walking on a path near Woodthorne Court in Owings Mills about midnight Tuesday when a man stepped from behind some bushes, knocked her to the ground and robbed her of more than $80.
Burglary: A videocassette recorder valued at $200 was stolen Tuesday from an apartment in the first block of Brubar Court.
Stolen car: A Burgundy 1992 Honda Accord with tags FCW 085 was stolen Tuesday night from an Owings Mills Mall parking lot.
Stolen vehicle: A green 1992 Mitsubishi Mighty Max pickup truck with tags 76D069 was stolen Tuesday in the first block of Mycroft Court.
