Southeastern District police officers raided six homes in Highlandtown last night and arrested 20 people on drug charges, including a mother and her 14-year-old daughter.
The raids came after members of the district's drug unit made several undercover drug purchases in the past month in open-air drug markets around Highlandtown, police said.
The purchases were part of a monthlong investigation prompted by residents' complaints, Lt. George Klein said.
At a house in the 3500 block of E. Baltimore St., officers seized nearly 100 pieces of crack cocaine, valued at about $1,000, and arrested five suspects, including a mother and daughter accused of dealing drugs as a team, Klein said.
Warrants also were served at houses in the first and 200 blocks of S. Highland Ave., the 3800 block of Mount Pleasant Ave., and the 3400 and 3600 blocks of Gough St.
The suspects, who were charged with drug possession or distribution, were being held last night at the Central Booking and Intake Center.
