No. 9 Hobart stays unbeaten, 13-12 Navy's big second quarter tops Mount St. Mary's

Fred Pawlikowski swept away Michael Voris' shot with two seconds remaining as No. 9 Hobart held off Cornell, 13-12, last night before 902 in Ithaca, N.Y.

The Statesmen (8-0) took their biggest lead of the game at 12-6 five minutes into the third quarter on Eric Petranchuk's unassisted goal.

But the Big Red (4-6) finished the game on a 7-1 run, including scoring the final four goals. Cornell closed to 13-12 when Josh Morgan scored with 34 seconds left.

Pawlikowski, who finished with 24 saves, then helped Hobart avoid overtime by making his 15th second-half stop.

The Statesmen have won five of the past six against the Big Red

Navy 16, Mount St. Mary's 8: The Mids (6-5) used a 7-1 second quarter to pull away from the Mountaineers (5-8) in Annapolis, ending a three-game skid. Navy received goals from nine players, including three each from Jason Hull, Jamie O'Leary and Andy Ballinger.

The Mount trailed 3-1 after one period. After a goal by each team vTC in the second quarter, Navy scored the next eight goals while holding the Mountaineers scoreless for more than 18 minutes to take a 12-2 lead early in the third quarter.
