Cafeteria at women's prison closed by Health Department after fire

County Health Department inspectors ordered the cafeteria at the Maryland Correctional Institute for Women closed after a fire there last month. The cafeteria re-opened March 16.

The cafeteria was among 16 of the 96 food service establishments reviewed between March 1 and March 15 that were cited for violations. No others were closed.

Two establishments were cited for multiple violations; Ronny's Carry-out, in the 5000 block of Ritchie Highway in Brooklyn Park, was cited for failing to keep food at a proper temperature and using food that had been adulterated or spoiled; and Fortune Cookie Express, 1286 Route 3 South, was cited for not keeping food properly cool, and for not holding food at the proper temperature.

Fourteen others were cited for not keeping food at proper temperatures. They are China Wok Restaurant, 1017 Bay Ridge Ave., Annapolis; The Weiss Market, 3393 Laurel Fort Meade Road, Laurel; The Legislative Services Building Cafeteria on State Circle in Annapolis; Target, 3343 Laurel Fort Meade Road, Laurel; Sam's Club, 3535 Russett Green, Laurel; Chick-Fil-A in the Annapolis Mall; Friendly Ice Cream, 7134 Ritchie Highway, Glen Burnie; International House of Pancakes, 496 Ritchie Highway, Severna Park; Manchu Wok, Marley Station, Glen Burnie; The Pony Espresso, 33 West St., Annapolis; Manresa Assisted Living Facility, 85 Manresa Road, Annapolis; Devin's Supermarket, 1628 Annapolis Road, Odenton; Wendy's Old Fashioned Hamburgers, 1949 West St., Annapolis, and Old Town Seafood Shoppe, 105 Main St., Annapolis.
