Douglas gets first win since return to track

Jockey Frank Douglas rode his first winner since returning to the track after a life-threatening spill, finishing first aboard MJ Girl in the fourth race at Pimlico yesterday.

Douglas, 37, suffered serious head injuries in a spill at Timonium on Aug. 31, 1997, and began his riding comeback on Wednesday, opening day of the Pimlico meet. Yesterday, MJ Girl paid $29.80 for the victory by a head over Amanda Elizabeth.
