Arundel phone service interrupted for 11 hours

March 29, 1998

About 20,000 Bell Atlantic customers in southern Anne Arundel County could not call beyond their local area for about 11 hours yesterday.

Phone service for customers in the Mayo and Galesville areas went out about 9 a.m. after a contractor inadvertently cut two fiber cables at Forest Drive and Spa Road in Annapolis, said Sandra Arnette, a Bell Atlantic spokeswoman.

Full phone service was restored to the customers by 8 p.m., she said.
