Indy Racing League: Fined Kelley Racing $5,000 for unsportsmanlike conduct and driver Scott Sharp $15,000 and seven points for violations during Dura-Lube 200 in Phoenix on March 22.

Baseball

Diamondbacks: Released IF Darnell Coles. Assigned P Bob Wolcott to Triple-A Tucson.

Expos: Agreed to terms with P Ugueth Urbina on three-year contract and OF Mike Mordecai on one-year contract.

Indians: Reassigned P John Cummings to minor-league camp. Optioned 1B Sean Casey to Triple-A Buffalo.

Mariners: Purchased the contracts of C John Marzano and OF Glenallen Hill from Triple-A Tacoma. Placed IF Giomar Guevara on 60-day DL. Claimed OF Ryan Radmanovich off waivers from Minnesota Twins and optioned him to Tacoma. Claimed P Jose Panigua off waivers from Tampa Bay Devil Rays and designated him for assignment.

Marlins: Signed P Chris Hammond to minor-league contract and assigned him to Triple-A Charlotte.

L Mets: Named Kevin Morgan assistant to director of personnel.

Pirates: Assigned OF Manny Martinez to minor-league camp. Placed P Ricardo Rincon on 15-day DL, retroactive to March 22.

Royals: Placed P Kevin Appier on 60-day DL. Claimed P Danny Rios off waivers from New York Yankees.

Basketball

NBA: Suspended Raptors F Gary Trent and F Marcus Camby for one game without pay and fined them $5,000 and $2,500, respectively, for leaving bench during altercation in game Thursday night. Fined 76ers coach Larry Brown and F Derrick Coleman $6,000 each and 76ers G Allen Iverson $3,000 for publicly criticizing referees after loss Wednesday night.

Grizzlies: Placed G Sam Mack on injured list. Signed G Larry Robinson to 10-day contract.

Heat: Placed F P. J. Brown on injured list. Activated F Antonio Lang from injured list.

SuperSonics: Activated G/F David Wingate off injured list. Released C George Zidek.

Colleges

Awards: North Carolina F Antawn Jamison and Tennessee F Chamique Holdsclaw were named men's and women's Naismith basketball Players of the Year. North Carolina's Bill Guthridge and Tennessee's Pat Summit were named men's and women's Coaches of the Year.
