Boat beat: Call it a tale of two teams -- Silk Cut and Swedish Match. Silk Cut is betting that hugging the Brazilian coast will keep her in the lead, while Swedish Match has plotted the farthest course east, a strategy that has so far earned her a position at the back of the fleet.

Weather: East to east-southeasterly winds of 8-12kts will diminish to 4-12kts. Wind direction will become more variable and from the north-northeast through Friday.
