Boat beat: Most of the fleet has attributed at least one bad schedule to the dreaded "big black clouds." Chessie had to sail through a large rain cloud yesterday, experiencing the phenomena associated with the rain clouds, most notably the 60-degree wind swing toward the coast of Brazil. After battling winds for over three hours, Chessie's net loss was 13 miles.

Weather: East to east-southeasterly flow will continue but wind speeds will be down to an average 12-17 knots.
