Business community group names officers, board members

The Greater Westminster Development Corp. named new officers and board members at its annual meeting this week and honored three founding members who are retiring from the board of directors.

The new officers for one-year terms are chairman, Joseph H. Beaver Jr., retired president of Union National Bank; president, Ethan A. Seidel, vice president for administration and finance at Western Maryland College; vice president, Roy L. Chiavacci, director of facilities management at Carroll Lutheran Village; secretary, Jay Graybeal, executive director of the Historical Society of Carroll County; and treasurer, Donald A. Hiltner, a certified public accountant of Donald A. Hiltner & Co.

New board members are R. Wayne Barnes, president of Barnes-Bollinger Insurance Services, for a one-year term; Kevin R. Bell, vice president of Merrill Lynch in Westminster, and Audrey S. Cimino, executive director of the Community Foundation of Carroll County, both three-year terms.

THe GWDC, a nonprofit business association formed in 1994, honored founding members Jackie Finch, Patricia Keener and Stanly H. "Jack" Tevis III. The three were named honorary board members. Thirty business leaders serve on the board.

Fires

Westminster: Firefighters from New Windsor assisted FTC Westminster at 12: 28 a.m. Thursday, responding to a chimney fire in the 1700 block of Stone Chapel Road. Units were out 25 minutes.

Westminster: Firefighters responded at 10: 08 p.m. Wednesday to a trash container fire in the 400 block of N. Cranberry Road. Units were out 31 minutes.

Westminster: Firefighters from Reese, Gamber, Union Bridge and Hampstead assisted Westminster at 2: 25 p.m. Wednesday, responding to a house fire in the first block of Sable Court. Units were out 50 minutes.
